Research

    Overview of research:
The sugars (e.g. glucose, fructose) and proteins generate advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). We investigate AGEs derived from glyceraldehyde (GA) which is the glucose/fructose metabolism intermediate, called GA-AGEs. More, we named GA-AGEs to toxic AGEs (TAGE) because of such cytotoxicity and that GA-AGEs had been closely associated with Lifestyle-related diseases such as insulin resistanse, hypertension, diabetic complications, cardiovascular diseases, dementia, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, Alzheimer's disease, and cancer. Actually, we investigate the quanitity of the intracellular GA-AGEs (TAGE) in the cultured cells and organs of human and rat, and identification of them.
